The chaotic bridge between astrology and science

Image
The development, progress and fall of beings; along with the creation and the destruction of the universe lies under the authority of Grah (Planets). - excerpt from बृहत् पराशर होरा शास्त्र What you just read is almost used as a compass in  ज्योतिष शास्त्र (Indian Astrology). But how on 'Earth' is it possible to fathom the impact of a substantially distant planet, that too inanimate, on a newborn mortal (unless its a Krypton-Superman affair). Astrologers even go as far as to claim that these planets also decide/impact the future of the mortal. This whole cosmic social network tale is what is still bought around (vehemently in India), believed by adults and oldies, and also plays a crucial role in important social events such as marriages. But seriously Astrology! You want me to believe that Saturn was the reason that I am reading this blog right now at this place on earth?? For a moment even if I believe these 'planets' to be mere metaphors, the prospect of an amalgama

The Modern Day Taboo: Rise of AI and Robotics

Taboo... is a once prevalent and widely accepted fabric of a culture that is so deeply ingrained and efficient for the system that it manages to persist for long into it while the culture itself changes... when the culture fully transforms, this still persistent and accepted fabric becomes starkly visible as an alien or obsolete entity or the taboo. Thus as a matter of fact taboos are not a vile or erroneous outcome of the society, they are rather a well thought, profusely tested and once widely accepted part of the culture. But a point comes when the society takes a multifold leap and has to clutch to an altogether novel system, squeezing out the 'taboo' part of it off its new system. Moreover, the attorney of tagging a sub system as a taboo is generally bestowed to the ones in power or in majority (generally the newer generation). It's rarely a case when a minority or a weaker section or an older section comes out in the open and declares a subsystem of its era as a ta

The bounds of the consciousness and the freedom of the artificial intelligence

Maybe artificial intelligence is the corrigendum to human intelligence. It may be the further evolution of the human race. Maybe humans are the premature state of robots and robots lie ahead in the evolutionary timeline of life starting right from the Big bang. The disruptive view of the next dimension by the pioneers has led to the advancement of human race physically and metaphysically. Humanity has embraced these advancements with grace and vigour. But lately, Artificial Intelligence has been a topic attracting contrasting views with a major chunk being that of skeptics addressing their insecurities to the association of intelligence to a "non human" thing. It is said that such a kind of intelligence is vulnerable and is prone to corruption. But look around, is human intelligence flawless? Hasn't it been corrupted too and rendered dark at times? Anyways, it seems pretty obvious to have such an unwelcoming opinion when you are able to observe yourself fade in the the

Towards Parmatma: the hunt for your calling

Last night...I came across a tumult of thoughts. Thoughts that were stretching my mind, as in the ethereal part of it, pulling it apart trying to reveal some absolutes of it. This pull, or I should name, this pressure on the ethereal part of mind has always stayed with me and I believe with most of the people that I know of. Actually I was treading through a rich eclectic collection of works of varied genres, in the youtube, comprising of music, drama, technology and philosophy. Each one of them a true piece of beauty, titillating my mind in ways of their own, instigating in me the similar emotions/ hormones that I should comfortably claim as bliss/ dopamine. But as I finished off savoring each of those subjects, I found myself (the ethereal part of my mind) in a wide abyss with shiny shards of each genre floating around, each one of them pulling me towards it. Each of them luring me to be pursued  to their full. And this is not a momentary scenario that I underwent, it’s a cyclic feel

Yesterday...I reluctantly went out for an excursion with my friend...for a test drive actually. We had planned to go for the ride(that of a Harley) first and then go to Daryaganj to get my friend a guitar. Though my escorting guide accidentally abandoned me in the middle of the ride and I had to carry the whole 1200cc package(that kept on haulting in between) right through the middle of the unpredictable traffic of Delhi, the experience as a whole was a nice one. We left the slick humungous showroom after a while and caught the urban lifeline, the metro, straight for Chawri Bazar. We boarded off the destined station and found ourselves in the middle of a cobweb of narrow streets crowded with men, women, kids, rickshaws, trucks, autos, beggars, handicapped, rickety shops, showrooms, dogs and cows and yes offcourse, the scorching sun and continuous strident noises. Unaware of the exact route and aware of the possibility of getting struck in this cobweb, we decided to get a local vehic

Sangharsh and Maya: The way we choose

Hmmm....this piece of mine is the result of a continuous clash between my repository of knowledge and my thought. The knowledge of science and the thought of conscience. So to begin with ...we were taught and convinced in our institutions of a principle that if no energy is being spent or no work is being done...then the system of concern stays in its stable state. That simply means that the true stable state(natural state) of a system is achieved without the transaction of energy or work through it. In context to this knowledge of science...my conscience lately in the process of deciphering the meaning of our struggles...asked me..."if stability is our natural state...then why do we have to struggle for it...and when we struggle(transact energy or work) then are we moving away from our stability?". To make it more clear... I would like to share these thoughts: if I need a good career...I need to work over my mind, if I need a good physique...I need to work over my body, i
