Sangharsh and Maya: The way we choose
Hmmm....this piece of mine is the result of a continuous clash between my repository of knowledge and my thought. The knowledge of science and the thought of conscience. So to begin with ...we were taught and convinced in our institutions of a principle that if no energy is being spent or no work is being done...then the system of concern stays in its stable state. That simply means that the true stable state(natural state) of a system is achieved without the transaction of energy or work through it. In context to this knowledge of science...my conscience lately in the process of deciphering the meaning of our struggles...asked me..."if stability is our natural state...then why do we have to struggle for it...and when we struggle(transact energy or work) then are we moving away from our stability?".
To make it more clear... I would like to share these thoughts: if I need a good career...I need to work over my mind, if I need a good physique...I need to work over my body, if I need a good relation...I need to work over my emotions, and so forth. I was bewildered by the fact...that as we need to apply 'work' to achieve all these 'good' states of us...then does that mean that they are not my 'stable' or natural states? That is ...are all the so called ideal states of us humans not our stable or natural state? Or for that matter are we expecting something skewed from ourselves when we actually expect the good thing?
Hmmm... After a brief deep thought over the querries, I realised that all the great things that we all expect from ourselves generally... are not natural to us. And thus we have to apply work and expend energy to jump to those states from our natural one. For example...take the beautiful example of Ramayan...when Ram went away to fetch Maarich...and Sita was abducted in his absence... it was an act of the jungle... an act of the nature. Nobody is a victim and nobody is the victimizer there. It was all just under the natural law. Till then, no unnatural state was reached and hence no struggle(work) was expected. But Ram, out of the duty of relationship, feeling of attachement, feeling of vengeance and the duty of honour... was bound in a prolonged struggle to get back what nature had taken from him. Now all the aforesaid notions of relationship, attachment, vengeance and honour were human constructs and not a natural one and hence were not the stable states to be achieved. Hence the struggle involved to achieve the unstable state was justified. Similarly, the very act of the saints and hermits giving up the worldly constructs(both physical and emotional) or struggles signifies that they are falling back to their natural(stable) states that takes away from them the struggles and moves them closer to the natural bliss. Take the example of a sapling...a tender, delicate form that grows into beautiful tree naturally... and slowly starts developing cracks n crevices...starts bending naturally and then falls off... all naturally... nowhere does it try to resist its stable nature and thus nowhere does it indulge in any struggle.
I feel now... that the root cause of all our struggles(SANGHARSH) is our expectation of such a construct(MAYA) that is not natural to us. Thus now whenever we feel lost and agitated in the search for the reason of our struggle...we must be well aware that we are moving towards an unnatural, artificial and human construct...which but naturally calls for external energy or struggle in order to be achieved...and the resultant attainment is an unstable one how beautiful it may be...calming enough...

Destiny has its path...
ReplyDeleteWe can think of a struggle free stable state life as we were born with a secure childhood away from worries of our next meal or troublesome surroundings...
But sometimes struggle itself is the only way out...
Isn't it?
